When I lived in Singapore, our housekeeper, Tina, spoiled my family and I with delicious homemade egg rolls at least once a week. I can still remember the smell in the kitchen as Tina delicately fried each spring roll in sizzling oil. I should also add, she baked nearly four dozen chocolate chip cookies every single week… and they were magical (in both taste and disappearing act). Tina was more than a housekeeper, not only did she live with us for nearly three years, but she was like the adopted Asian grandmother I always dreamed I had. I have nothing but fond memories from Singapore. I miss it every single day.
